[Part 2] 091. Jeju Day 3

I woke up at 8am today to find 4 mosquito bites on my face, 1 on my left index fingertip and at least 7 on my arms and legs. Great. I never knew that mosquitoes thrive in cold weather too. Originally, Yuya was to join Kenneth and I for the breakfast buffet at Lotte Hotel which we couldn't have yesterday. But his 3 hours of dancing with Jeannie and Raus in the balcony last night cost him a wonderful breakfast as he chose sleep over scrambled eggs. While the breakfast buffet we had there for 28,600KRW each wasn't the best of breakfast buffets I've eaten, it was the best breakfast I've had in Korea...scrambled eggs which I really missed! After our delicious and very filling breakfast, we went to the JTO Duty Free shop at the ICC where I bought my shades at a 20% discount. Unfortunately, I didn't know that duty free purchases can only be collected at the airport before departure so I couldn't use my shades immediately :(
I killed this mosquito in the car. I bet that's my blood!
I mistook that piece of bread for a scoop of coffee ice cream :(
No honey stars :(
At the ICC (International Convention Centre)
After my satisfying purchase, it was my turn on the wheels. I was quite nervous initially because I haven't driven for about 6 months since my school semester ended and it didn't make any sense to drive to the Call Centre for my internship with expensive carpark charges and all. Furthermore, it was left-hand drive which I've never tried before! Thankfully, I drove on a Sunday late morning with few cars on the road and that also meant me speeding down the highway at 120km/hr with Kenneth totally freaking out. He thought that he could sleep while I drove but he was so fearful about me losing control of the car at 120km/hr that he stayed awake the whole time. I'm not a bad driver ok!!! And I'm known for keeping a good safety distance, just ask Jeannie! Though I must admit that I almost hit some cars parked along some small lanes because I forgot that I was driving on the left-hand side and went too close to them. Also, almost every time I signalled, I activated the wiper because I forgot it was on the opposite side. I beat the red light a few times too because I wasn't sure of the road markings :( Nevertheless, it was a nice drive for me from Jungmun Complex to Avis near the airport and we made it in one piece :) We couldn't get the ipod to connect to the car's audio system and wanted to ask one of the guys there if they had some other cables we could used. Unfortunately, we were told that ipods are not compatible with the car. It's quite dumb actually. It's stated on the panel in the car that the system is compatible with ipods and there is even a jack for the ipod cable but no, we were told that it isn't compatible. The guy tried to help us sync Kenneth's phone's music to the system as well but to no avail. Seeing our crestfallen faces (because we didn't want to listen to boring Jeju DJs speaking in English and other boring songs on the radio), he decided to lend us his USB thumbdrive with the latest Korean songs including DJ Doc's! So nice of him :)
Ok, go and ahead and laugh because that's how I look like when I drive
With the USB thumbdrive the Avis guy lent us
We stopped by a rocky area near along the coast to take some photos
Calling Yuya and taking lunch orders for the 3 sleepyheads. In retrospect, we should have just called for McDonalds delivery. But no, Kenneth drove to Tapdong's McDonalds where we had difficulty in finding a parking space and had to queue up for quite some time for the food :( Lesson learnt!
Looking like Medusa with the strong wind blowing
Having their brunch in the balcony
Our first touristy destination for the day was Manjang Lava Tube 만장굴 (2,000KRW for admission) and if you're wearing heels, forget about going in. I went into the cave in my heels because my only other footwear available was my slippery slippers so I had to hold Kenneth's hand when I was inside the cave :( And when you're inside the cave, don't look up. Or if you do, close your mouth and your eyes, which then defeats the purpose of even looking up in the first place. Yuya looked up and a droplet of water from the ceiling of the cave got into his eye. We spent about 40 minutes inside the cave and by the time we got out, it was about 5.20pm. Museums in Jeju close at 6pm. It was pointless going to waterfalls or beaches around that time as well because it would be pitch-black by the time we got there. Fortunately, the last ticket sale for the Trick Art Museum was at 6pm and the closing time was 7pm, so Yuya sped all the way to the museum in 20 minutes.
Raus parked the car perfectly between 2 lots. HAHA!
This little girl was attracted to both Yuya and me
Letting us alight to buy the tickets first
We had dinner at a black pork BBQ eatery in Tapdong before driving the car back to Avis to return it at 10pm. During the dinner, I kind of lost my brain and kept saying stupid things. Haiz.
Jeannie, Raus and Yuya didn't want to go back to the pension so early so they took a cab to the Cityhall area in search of some bar that an Avis guy's friend recommended while Kenneth and I took a cab back. I don't understand why people like to drink and I guess I'll never understand why either! I was really tired! But surprisingly, the 3 of them came back quite early...within 1.5 hours and they told me they didn't want to stay up too late because we were going to Udo Island tomorrow and need to wake up early. Later on, Jeannie told me that the real reason why they came back so early was because it was boring at the bar and there was practically no one there. There's really not much of a nightlife in Jeju. haha.
