Anyway, I went to the gym again today! My plan is to hit the gym from Monday to Saturday every week but I think my body is already protesting given my aching back today. So I have no choice but to cancel my workout for tomorrow to give myself some rest.
Today, I ate the most that I've ever eaten during my 46 days here in Korea and I attribute this to the start of my exercise regime which has resulted in my increase in appetite. As I've said on previous Thursdays entries, I love Thursdays! It's my shortest school day and the end of class on Thursday spells the start of my weekend. I was quite hungry today and since I had a 45mins break before Korean class, I went for lunch together with Jeannie and Yuhong. Initially, I wanted to skip class because it was too hot and I didn't want to walk all the way to the International Studies Hall. But the "good girl" in me surfaced and I decided that I should stop missing classes so I went for class, albeit 5 minutes late.
When I reached class, Beatrice gave me a comb which she bought from Homeplus yesterday. So nice of her! I had showed her my horrible tangle and she told me about a comb for curls which I've never seen or heard of before so when she saw it in Homeplus yesterday, she bought one for me.
During Korean class, our teacher also gave us songpyeon 송편 to eat. Songpyeon is a Korean rice cake that is typically eaten during Chuseok 추석 (Korea's Thanksgiving) which is also our Mid-Autumn Festival. So while us Chinese eat mooncakes, the Koreans eat songpyeon. In Korea, Chuseok is quite a big affair and there is a 3 days public holiday dedicated to it as Koreans return to their hometowns to gather with their families. In other words, most places will be closed during this period with very heavy traffic on the roads as people return to their hometowns. Chuseok falls on 22 September this year, so 21 September and 23 September are also public holidays, forming a 3 days 연휴 (consecutive holiday). Most classes are cancelled on Monday as well, so next week is like my holiday week. Unfortunately, our passports are still with the Immigration Office for the processing of our Alien Registration Cards so we can't travel out of the country :( And since most places will be closed for the holiday, I don't think I'm going anywhere, other than Bucheon on 22 September to visit Youngjin and his family.
After Korean class, I met up with Himchan 힘찬 and Miok 미옥 (his girlfriend) for lunch (yes, my 2nd one for the day but I was hungry!). Both of them were in NUS in 2008 for exchange and Miok was previously a KUBA buddy. She's really pretty! Coincidentally, we were wearing the same grey t-shirt from Dongdaemun. Himchan is Morten's friend and I met him on 5th August. Both of them really miss Singapore, especially chili crab! From my conversations with my Korean friends, I've concluded that most of them love yong tau foo and chili crab! And when I told Himchan that I'm going to Nami Island on Sunday with a group of friends, he said that I should go with a Korean
