[Part 2] 034. 4 September 2010 Saturday

While today was one of the longest day of the week for me, I had the most fun and also unfortunately, suffered from the most severe side effects from drinking alcohol for this week.
My day started off with having lunch with Alex and Jaehyun at a Chinese eatery where we had ja jiang mian (my 3rd one for the week) and my brilliant nose chose the perfect time to bleed again.
After lunch, Alex needed to withdraw cash from CJ House again and there was no way I was going to climb up and down the "CJ Mountain" with my sprained ACL so I didn't join them and instead, went back to my hostel. I wanted to study or do my personal accounting work before the Welcome Party for exchange students started at 4.30pm in the canteen of the Students' Union Building but I ended up in Jeannie's room watching Kim Tak Gu (King of Baking or Bread, butter & love) till it was time to get ready for the long night ahead.
The Welcome Party was alright I guess...luckily Jeannie and I arrived fashionably late at 5pm because there wasn't much to do there except to eat, talk and watch others dance. The heat made things really unbearable and I spent most of my time there fanning myself. Each of us paid 10,000KRW for a can of beer, sandwich/burger, pizza, muffins, cake and soft drinks. The after-party at some place near my hostel was more fun and it was really really crowded, or should I say, filled with KU exchange students from different groups.
Again, each of us paid 10,000KRW for some snacks, soju, lemon soju and beer. I hit my limit after drinking 2 shots of soju, 1 shot of lemon soju and 1/3 of a mug of beer. I wasn't drunk (though I appeared to be, on the surface), just that my face was freakingly red and I had a pounding head. We talked, drank and played drinking games like Baskin Robbins 31,51, etc and I realised that the Westerners are really really open and direct about some issues. I made friends with DoKyung oppa (he's older than me), who's Eric's KUBA buddy, and he later pulled me to the dance stage with him to dance with the other members of my group. But I didn't dance there for long (not like I can even dance...Chinese dance in Primary 2 doesn't count) because at 10pm, Jeannie told me that her friends and her were ready to go clubbing so I went down to Anam Station to meet them. My group didn't have any other plans for the night so I crashed Jeannie's group i.e. group 4 and we had great fun! We went in a group of 9, including 2 group 4 KUBA buddies (JinHyung and Young). Luckily the 2 Koreans went with us because they brought us to NB Club through Sangsu 상수 Station which is not only on the same line as Anam, but also within walkable distance to Hongdae, which is on another line. Along our way to the club, I saw many beautiful cafes so I must definitely go back to Sangsu again!
It was my 3rd time clubbing in Korea and it's great going in a group because we formed a circle and I had 3 bodyguards (Charles from Quebec City, JinHyung and Young). Thanks, guys! Cover charge was 15,000KRW per person and we had a free drink each. I had a Vodka Lemon which I only drank a few sips of before giving it to one of Jeannie's friends. Guys around me are lucky because they always get free drinks! Anyway, we were in the club quite early and as time passed, the club got more and more crowded, stuffier and hotter, and it was hard dancing to the music when it wasn't quite my style. Anyone up for going to a jazz bar or like, "Once in a blue moon" in Apgujeong?
Anyway, at around 2am+, we went out of the club for a breather to get some fresh air but we were all so hot, flustered, tired and hungry that we decided not to return to the club and Jeannie went back in to help us get our bags from the bag drop area. I mysteriously got a mosquito bite from inside the club as well so I guess you know how much I actually moved during the whole time. We took 2 cabs back to Anam and it was a horror flagging down a cab because sooooo many cabs were full. Back at Anam, we ate at McDonalds (haha Eric, in the end, I was the one who went to McDonalds) before parting ways at 3am+.
Alright, my hair has kind of dried so I can finally sleep. Yay! It's now 5.27am Korean time.
