[Part 1] 145. TOPIK #29

Today was such a looooong day!

My day started off at 6.30am. At 7.30am, I met my classmates and batchmates in front of the florist shop and we boarded the chartered bus to Pusan National University to take the TOPIK #29 exam at the International Education Building 국제교육관. Our bus driver was also the one who drove us to Incheon back in October. He remembers me :)

I was lucky to be with Ikbol in the same classroom :) We reached PNU at about 8.10am and had more than an hour to do some last minute revision before the exam started at 9.30am.
Surprisingly, the paper was the easiest out of all the past papers that I’ve done. HOWEVER, I couldn’t remember the meanings of quite a few words. I came across them before but either didn’t bother to find the meanings then or I couldn’t remember the meanings -.- So the only section that I have confidence for is 쓰기 because I managed to complete my essay on time and I think I’ll do fine for that.
The listening and reading papers were quite tough though. Oh wells. Should wait for judgement day on Feb 4.
By the time the exam finally ended at 1pm, we were all so famished! We spent a long time searching for a place to eat at and finally settled on Pizza Hut. Actually, we wanted to eat at Mr. Pizza instead but the seats weren’t big enough for the 5 of us so we settled for Pizza Hut.
We ate a lot and talked a lot lol. I’m glad to know that I’m not abnormal in thinking the way I do on some issues and that my friends think the same way too. Really love my friends. I’m so glad that I got to meet them and that they are my classmates! Coming here isn’t as exciting as many might think it is. I was more worried than anything about not being able to make friends and having to be here all alone but I was so wrong.

Ikbol and Sylvia ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ
The SEAsian way of piling food on a plate from the salad bar
Thailand, Mymmar, Vietnam
Ikbol, loving the rambutans here in Korea because he has never eaten them elsewhere before.
After finally leaving Pizza Hut, we went to Seomyeon to window shop for awhile before chilling in a cafe while waiting for the rest of our classmates to arrive for dinner.
Ikbol, finding a secluded spot, to make a call to our teacher lol
Actually, I was the one who suggested meeting in Seomyeon for dinner because I wanted to bring my class to the 칼국수 place where I went to with my friends previously. But some of my classmates were famished and wanted to eat asap so we ended up at 유나게 which is right in front of Lotte, but can be found everywhere in Busan or Korea and we didn’t have to go all the way to Seomyeon just for that -.- Oh wells, I’m just feeling irritated that my coat and hair reek of bokkeumbab fried rice. Even after bathing, my hair still smells of bokkeumbab. Sigh.
After eating, we were soooo full that we walked around Seomyeon for awhile before taking the bus back to school. And Ikbol scared us. He was walking in front of us when he suddenly turned to face us, hung himself on a branch from a tree in front of us and swung his feet right into our faces -.-

I’m finally free from school and exams!!!
Till March :)

Hi Clara, good luck for your results!!

I took TOPIK during my exchange too and I remember only too well that feeling... (of 50/50 - either making it for the desired level I wish to get, or not)

TOPIK is seriously stressful because I'm not extremely good so it feels like I'm really counting on a lot of luck. But in the end, things surprisingly went really well, and I hope the same goes for you too! :) Safe trip back to Singapore!

Hey Alice,

Thank you! Yes, it’s more about luck than proficiency I think…luck that you get a relatively easy paper, easy essay question, words and grammar forms that you know, and the ability not to let your mind wander during the listening paper, etc haha.

Happy new year!
