[Part 1] 129. 쓰기 and Friday spent with my dearest friends

Ok, so this morning, I woke up and happily opened my window to get my milk carton which I left in a plastic bag hanging off the hook of my window. Nature’s my refrigerator. Poured the milk all over my cereal only to see the milk in a semi-liquid form and bits of ice milk here and there -.-

Today, my teacher released our mock TOPIK results and I… IMPROVED! and de-proved too :(
Improvements: 어휘문법 from 41 for my previous test to 45; 쓰기 from 15 to 66!!!!!
Drop: 듣기 from 46 to 40; 읽기 from 52 to 30. Oops.

But I’m really happy about my 쓰기 result and that’s all I cared for and actually put in effort for actually. I actually felt quite horrid about getting 15 marks for my previous mock test! How did I improve my score by 51 marks in less than 2 months? Frankly speaking, I didn’t even practise or anything. What I did was to manage my time better. I finished the front part as fast as I could (guessing quite a few answers and being lucky enough to get 9/10 of the 1st 10 questions right) before making a quick plan for my essay and writing it out. This time round, I finally managed to write about 720 characters which is within the requirement of 700-800 characters, WHICH I was never able to do so previously.
On the other hand, I kind of expected my results for 듣기 and 읽기 because there were just too many words that I didn’t know and I guess I ran out of luck for guessing.
Anyway, if Lady Luck’s on my side on 20th Jan and IF I study really hard from now on, I think I might be able to obtain Level 5!

After class today, I attended a special writing class in preparation for the upcoming TOPIK exam. 1 month of intensive writing classes! We missed last week’s lesson because of the snow and there’ll be a makeup class from 4-6pm next Tuesday.
Actually, after receiving my marks for mock TOPIK today, I don’t think I need to attend this writing class anymore. I applied for this class a few weeks back because I was really stressed about being able to get only 15 marks in my mock exam. But after receiving my marks today, I realised what my greatest problem is. I’m not being arrogant or anything just because I improved my score by 51 marks. I’m just trying to find the best way to improve my scores before the actual exam. So back to my greatest problem…it’s vocabulary, followed by being able to remember what advanced Korean grammar to use in my essays and written answers. The reason why I did so badly previously was largely because of poor time management. I only had time to write about 100 characters which meant that I didn’t meet the minimum number of characters required, and most importantly, my “essay” lacked the content. This time round, I finally had the time to write my essay! With only 1.5 weeks of classes left and TOPIK classes and this writing class to attend, I have to study for the language centre’s final exams AND for TOPIK as well and there’s just not enough time for me! I need to organise my notes and revise but I don’t even have much time for self-study because of all the other classes outside our regular class from 9-1pm.

And after I was finally done with school today, I got my lazy butt off to the gym. Finally, after a hiatus of 1 month! After a much needed workout, I had dinner in the cafeteria and met my classmates and other friends there. We ended up chatting for more than an hour and Ikbol bought us ice cream so…my workout kinda went to waste but I had a good time with my friends. I’m so blessed to be surrounded by wonderful friends who make life here so interesting for me!

At 10pm+, I got called down to the cafeteria and ended up eating a bowl of ramen, oddeng and dumplings -.- So much for exercising today and I couldn’t say no to the food though I was able to resist the chicken that Sonya and Nay had ordered. We ate and talked all the way till 12am before the security guard chased us off. Dinner with my classmates and a few friends before having supper with another group of friends. Really blessed :) Though I’m going to be fat!

Alright, there isn’t going to be any electricity on campus tomorrow because of some checks from 8am to 6pm. Which means no internet and no warm/hot water at all. I’m going to plant myself in a cafe from 8am-6pm today and study. Wish me luck!
