[Part 1] 116. Procrastination

I procrastinate all the time, especially when it comes to studying.
But this time round, I procrastinated doing something else that’s not related to studying.

And that’s blogging. I have a huge backlog of entries to clear.

I planned to spend the day blogging but instead, I found myself reading up ahead of class for next week and finishing all my homework.

I promise to clear my backlog tomorrow.

Today was me-time. It’s nice, having a whole day to myself, almost being able to do whatever I want, without having to rehearse for the play or anything.

In the evening, I took a break and went down to Sasang to get the soles of my ankle boots and boots changed because I want non-slip ones. The cobbler near Apple Outlet looked quite fierce at first sight, but he’s actually really nice. When I went to him, he was free with no one else to attend to. 5 mins later, customers started streaming in one after another and since I had 2 pairs of shoes for him to work on while the rest of the customers had simpler problems, he attended to them first. But apparently, he felt bad about me waiting for almost 45 minutes that he started grumbling to 2 middle-aged man and woman in the shop that they should have waited for him to finish my shoes first because I’d been waiting for him forever. At least, I think that’s what he said because I was busy doing the TOPIK#20 grammar and vocab paper while waiting and suddenly, the man and woman started apologising to me so I got quite a shock haha.

I paid 15,000원 for the new soles (front and back for the boots and back for the ankle boots) and it was supposed to be more expensive but the cobbler gave me a discount because he felt bad that I had to wait so long. So much for buying cheap shoes…I ended up having to pay more for non-slip soles. I had only worn my new ankle boots yesterday and part of the heel of one side had already broken off -.- So lousy!
And even though I’m preparing for the Advanced level for TOPIK, I am still very weak in vocab. Half the time, I didn’t know what the cobbler was telling me but I roughly got the gist that he meant that the soles of my boots may not have sticked properly and if they drop out or something, he’ll fix them for free for me.

I hate eating alone, and on most occasions when I find myself in that situation, I’ll just buy a salad or milk to eat with cereal in my room. But since I was out, I might as well have proper food right? So I went back to the 칼국수 kalguksu restaurant where I went to with my friends during Valentina’s and Esra’s birthday dinner because it’s tucked in a corner and less crowded. I had the 고기 칼국수 meat kalguksu for 5,000원 and the meat was really delicious.

Despite having a big bowl of noodles for dinner, I went to Starbucks right after that to redeem my free drink because it expires in February and I’ll be leaving in end Jan AND I probably won’t have time to go to Starbucks again in the next few weeks because my finals are fast approaching and I have to study for TOPIK too. It’s a bit of a hassle having to take the shuttle bus in and out of school whenever I go to Sasang. I miss living in Anam where the subway station and everything else are just 1 or 2 minutes away by foot. The Starbucks guy who served me was so funny.  "Oh, you have a free drink coupon!”
Anyway,  I dislike (‘hate’ is too strong a word) Konglish. Like steak is 스테이크. But I just say "steak” the English way. So the moment I said “java chip” in Starbucks, the guy knew that I’m a foreigner and started speaking to me in English. There have been numerous occasions when I took the taxi and said “Global Town” to which the drivers couldn’t understand and I had to break up the words into 글로벌 타운. Urgh. And I have such a hard time pronouncing it the way Koreans can understand.

All in all, today was a super productive day for me. I actually wrote my essay when it’s only due next Friday. Normally, I write it the day before it’s due.
