[Part 1] 020. 21 August 2010 Saturday

Jeannie and I spent the great part of our 2nd last day in Bucheon in the apartment chilling out, listening to music, uploading photos, clearing yet another backlog of blog entries and packing up a little. Life has been great thus far and I doubt I'll ever have such a day again where I can just stay in and do what I want without feeling guilty about not completing my schoolwork and stuff. Orientation starts next week and the week after, school will start for me, after a nearly 4 months of holiday :( And soon, a whole month spent in Korea will pass.
Oh yes, Youngjin told us yesterday that when he was home watching the baseball match between SK and Lotte, Jeannie and I appeared on TV for a brief second...our second of fame.

I don't know what Jeannie and I should do to show our appreciation and gratitude to Youngjin's mother. She not only invited me to stay with her but also allowed me to bring Jeannie along. She washes our clothes and cooks for us. Like today...the whole family spent nearly a whole day at Youngjin's maternal grandmother's place and when they got home, Youngjin's mother learnt that we didn't really have a proper lunch so she quickly cooked rice for us for dinner, even though she had to rush off for a friend's mother's 70th birthday party. I'm really touched and it's people like Youngjin and his family who make me believe that Koreans, in general, are indeed really warm people (even though they have a pushing culture, especially on subway trains).

After dinner, we walked to New Core where we shopped for about 2 hours and I bought some pretty stuff from Modern House for my mum. I can't wait to give them to her (though I have no idea when) and I hope she'll like them!

By the time we got back to the apartment, the whole family was back. We had supper as well as a heart-to-heart talk with Youngjin's mother over beer (yet again). Taehun was a bit cranky though...he walked past me and hit me on the head for no apparent reason. Youngjin's mother immediately asked him to apologise to me. He apologised, but cried immediately after that...because he had to say sorry, which he felt was "unjustified". Oh well...the things that happen when you're with a 4 year boy. I seriously think he has a love-hate relationship with me.
Anyway, I died after drinking 2 cups of Cass beer and 1 cup of some blue alcoholic drink. I don't club and drink in Singapore except for 1 or 2 occasional sips of some Korean drinks my mum buys and asks me to try. So in gist, my body can't take it when I start drinking here. I felt like vomitting when I was talking to Youngjin's mother so I decided to excuse myself at 2am. It was so bad that my head was swirling and I couldn't walk straight...I took out my toothbrush, toothpaste and floss but never made it to the bathroom because I fell asleep on my mattress after that. Oh well, I didn't even drink a can of beer! I guess Jeannie's right, I need training BUT I don't like the taste of alcohol and I rather drink tea or fruit juices. Jeannie's limit for soju is 1 bottle. For me? 1 shot.
the caterpillars which Youngjin and his mother said are delicious...but Jeannie and I felt otherwise :( I only ate 3 pieces.
