[Part 1] 004. 5 August 2010 Thursday

This time round, we were the earliest! We met Morten and Ziggy at Anguk Station where Ziggy brought us to an eatery for fermented fish called 흥어 which Joanna saw in a documentary and wanted to try.

Happy Jo got her wish!
Oops, pardon my frizzy hair! I didn't dare to style it as I was afraid of loosening the curls. Anyway, I tried one piece...
but put too much kimchi that it ended up too spicy for my liking. Joanna says the kimchi should be eaten together with the fermented fish so that it'll taste better or something but anyhow, that was the one and only piece I had.
Ziggy and Morten
Nearly got drunk on this! Alright, I didn't but my face just turned really red with only one bowl. After trying the fermented fish, Ziggy brought us to a proper place for lunch. Melissa's mum paid for all of us...thank you Aunty Jenny!

I love this picture! Pretty colours :)

My poor map was used as a fan as well and look what happened :(

Shopping at Doota in Dongdaemun where I bought a pricey 43,500KRW which is too thin. A word of caution to all foreigners when shopping there: don't buy items for which you can't try on because I doubt you can return them or have them exchanged! So there goes my money :( Expensive lesson learnt!

This green tea waffle is more worth it than the trifle chocolate one we had yesterday, just enough for 4 persons too! Morten's friend, Himchan who went to NUS for a year long exchange together with Hyunju unni joined us and brought us around for the afternoon and night. Thank you!

In search of cheap live octopus 산낙지...
12,000KRW for this but it was too expensive as Morten and Joanna just wanted to try a little. We managed to find another store selling it for 5,000KRW.

Me the scaredy cat obviously didn't try it but Morten, Joanna and Himchan did! Brave souls :)

Off to Hangang River.
I like Yeouido Naru...a really nice and relaxing place!

Off to dinner.
It's called lotto here, not totto or lottery.

We took the train to Myeongdong before taking a cab to the Namsan Cable Car station for 2,400KRW.
We picked the wrong night to go up to the tower because just before we took the cable car, it started drizzling and when we reached the tower, it rained :(

Nice place to dine in as it overlooks Seoul!

Thanks for the many photos, Clara. So many familiar sights and places. It's so exciting to relive everything though another person's perspective! Will be following your blog much!

I so miss NAMSAM tower! I went this year during spring... It's so cold and we walked up the slope from myeongdong to the cable car station and the queue was so long when we reached the cable car station as it was a saturday. However, the scene from the top was really worthwhile!!

Thanks for sharing! (:

@ Sarah: Hello Sarah! I haven't got the time to really do a proper blog entry. Just putting in photos and some words for now! Will try to blog more often :)
@ Huixin: yes, definitely! I love Namsan Tower at night :) A great place for marriage proposal too! hahahahahaha. I can't wait for autumn. It's too hot here and I keep perspiring :( We had to queue for quite some time yesterday too and it was so hot!

Hey Clara.. It's Fadul. You're in Korea now! Fun! I was just checking out your old blog and realised that you moved to blogspot for quite some time now. I'm liking all the pictures.. keep them coming!

ooo.. I told you before that I'm thinking of going to Seoul again. Haha! I will be there during the first week of October for only 3 days. Too short! My friend and I will be going to Shanghai and Beijing in October and I managed to convince him that we can do a short stopover in Seoul. So, if opportunity presents, we can meet up and explore Seoul! There are still dozens of things I wanna do in Seoul! and oh yeah, i've got a travel blog now (together with other friends) and I've got some Seoul entries in there as well but I still have a lot of backlog.

Anyways, have fun in Korea! Take a lot of pictures of places that you go to.

Hello Fadul!
Yes I am :) Prefer blogspot for the layout but I can't stand the weird paragraph spacing.
Cool! Facebook message me when you arrive and I can bring you around :) What would you like to do in Seoul? I'm in Bucheon now...it's between Incheon and Seoul. Where's your travel blog??
Thank you :) I'll try to take better photos when the weather gets cooler :)
Take care!
