[Part 1] 32 & 33. Ulsan

Sunday
Today is Chuseok 추석, Korea’s Thanksgiving Day and Global Town was more like a Ghost Town. Most of the Korean students had gone back to their homes while most of my friends were out of Busan, with a majority of them having gone up to Seoul.

I made an impromptu decision of going up to Ulsan 울산 by taking the subway all the way to Nopo Station 노포역 and then taking bus #1127 to Ulsan (1.5hrs journey). The roads were pretty congested because everyone was travelling from one place to another e.g. visiting the graves of ancestors, visiting relatives, etc. The guy who sat beside me reeked of 소주 -.-
I suck at taking selcas :( Finally wearing my new scarf!
Nopo 노포
Alighted at Seongnamdong 성남동
After having dinner in Seongnamdong, I took a taxi to the park nearby to go to the Bamboo Forest which is soooooo beautiful. I should have brought my DSLR :( I will definitely have to go back soon to take more photos! The sunset was so beautiful too. What a perfect weather for Chuseok.

Spent the rest of the night exploring more of Seongnamdong before going to a jjimjilbang.
After spending almost 6 months going to a gym in Seoul where there was communal bathing, I am no longer shy about taking a public bath.
The jjimjilbang wasn’t fully opened because it was a public holiday so I didn’t manage to find an Ice Room and ended up sleeping inside one of the sauna rooms which was SO HOT. I almost died. I kept waking up every few hours because of the heat.

Monday
I was back in Busan by early afternoon and spent the rest of the day preparing my powerpoint slides for an upcoming presentation this week on Singapore’s culture.
There’s no school till Thursday because today is a public holiday in lieu of Chuseok yesterday, while Wednesday is a public holiday too. Tuesday, being a “sandwich” day is also a holiday for us :)
Milmyeon 밀면 (Busan’s speciality food) for dinner
