[Part 1] 80. 신라대학교 외국인유학생 체육대회 sports meet

Apart from mid-terms this week, we didn’t do much studying at all.

The sports meet for us foreign students was supposed to be held this morning during class time and at the sports stadium. But because it would be too cold to play the games outdoors, the Korean Language Centre decided to shift the venue to the gymnasium. Unfortunately, they weren’t able to book the gym for the morning time slot so the meet was held in the afternoon instead and we didn’t have lessons in the morning, which meant that I could wake up late. What a luxury!
F&B that we were each given || OOTD
I had difficulty deciding what to wear for the meet because my only track pants wasn’t dry yet and I was left with my FBT shorts. Eventually, I decided to go in my Nike shirt and FBTs, with my coat and a chiffon skirt worn over, to ensure that I don’t freeze on my way to the gym.
Everyone who saw me thought that I was going to run in my skirt -.-

Out of the 12 persons in my class, 10 of us had to participate in the games. 2 days ago, one of the staff in the Language department came to our class with a box from which we had to draw lots to see which games we were to participate in. I got the jumping rope game -.- But I totally suck at it and told my teacher that I couldn’t do it. We weren’t allowed to re-draw again but my teacher persuaded the staff to let me do it, saying that in life, we need second chances :P So I got the relay, which I wanted :)

I’ve never been a sports type of person. I was in the brass band, then the symphonic band, and then the jazz band in schools. The only sports I really do is golf but even so, I stick to the range because after 13 years (of procrastination), I still haven’t gotten my PC and handicap. But I go to the gym so at least, I’m fit to a certain extent.
Prior to my event, I was pretty nervous since I’ve never represented my school or anyone to run before.
For the girls’ relay, it wasn’t just about running. We had to do a few tasks: like putting on a pair of rubber gloves, wearing the top piece of a hanbok, and then a vest and finally, for the last runners, a mask. Pan and I were assigned to be the last runners for our team and we ran like crazy towards the finishing line with Pan coming in 1st and me, 2nd :) Since both of us were from the same team, we won.
Our 백 team’s relay men’s team came in 1st too which basically meant that our team won the overall sports meet, without us having to put in anymore effort for the cheering competition which was great since most of us lost our voice cheering for the men’s relay team. I came back to my room and drank soooo much water to save my throat.

There were a total of 5 games for the sports meet: 3각2인 (2 persons 3 legs), 단체 줄넘기 (group jumping rope), 짝피구 (like the 老鹰抓小鸡 game but involves the use of a ball) ,줄다리기 (tug of war) and the 릴레이 (relay).
My class and Class B were in 백 team, together with a few other Chinese classes. We won the 단체 줄넘기, 줄다리기 (teachers’ team too) and the 릴레이.
