I spent more time preparing for orals than the written exam -.-
All I had to do was to memorise the scripts for 2 role-play scenarios. Simple, isn’t it?
Not when it’s all in Korean. After awhile, the words just didn’t make sense to me and they all looked like Greek to me. I can’t even do it in Chinese, what more in Korean!!! I hate it when I get a mental block.
What really stressed me out was that my partner managed to memorise everything in 15 minutes. And I had to do well; if not, I would pull down her grade.
I had to wake up at 6am to memorise my scripts again before meeting her at 7am to run through the scenarios and then at 8.30am again in school.
We weren’t told that the exam would only start at 10am instead of 9am until we were in class. Had we known, we could have done everything 1 hour later -.-
Anyway, we volunteered to go first and I’m glad we did because we were over and done with orals before everyone else and left school at 10.30am :)
Thankfully, I remembered most of my lines and the teacher didn’t assign a role to either of us!
What happened for orals was that we were tested individually and as a pair. For the individual component, we were asked 2 questions, 1 of which was 1 of the 4 questions given to us in advance so that we could prepare for it. As for the pair component, we had to prepare for 2 role-play scenarios and we wouldn’t be told who would take on what role, which meant that we had to memorise a total of 4 different parts for 2 scenarios. But then our examiner actually let us decide on the roles ourselves which meant that I only needed to memorise 2 parts -.-
Oh wells, exams are over and done with for now! Finals will be in January, and so will my TOPIK exam too. I’m quite stressed for TOPIK and I have to do well since the school has been preparing us so much for it! Last year, I self-studied for TOPIK but this time round, it’s different. I have to do well to get my extra 100,000원/month too!
Actually, I planned to go shopping after the exam but given the 3 hours of sleep I only had last night, I was soooo tired today. After Skyping my parents (haven’t seen my dad for so long because he’s always at work when I Skype with my mum in the afternoon; and today, being Deepavali), I slept for awhile before meeting my classmates at 4pm to head out for a very delicious Uzbekistan dinner at a restaurant near Busan Station.
Ikbol placing orders on our behalf since we couldn’t quite make sense of the menu
Wyatt’s roommate joined us too
Love the rice, super delicious!
With Baby (Sylvia) from Indonesia
We paid 13,500원 each for the dinner. After that, we explored the Chinatown area a bit more before coming back to Sasang where we went to a 노래방 noraebang to sing for an hour. I didn’t stay for the full hour because someone got angry that I still wasn’t back yet -.- So after singing 月亮代表我的心 on my own and 소리쳐 with Ikbol, I rushed out of the noraebang and got into a cab. But right after I had told the cab driver where to go, before he could move off, a van cut into his lane to make a right turn and scratched the front part of his cab -.- After the cab driver got out to talk to the van driver, I quickly got out of the cab and hopped into the one behind. I was in a rush to come back and this had to happen :( Oh wells.
Anyway, I hate it that every time I come to Korea, my competency of the English language worsens. Somehow, the Korean language corrupts my knowledge of the English language. See, I think the last 2 sentences don’t make sense at all and they seem weird. Argh…….I can’t even speak Chinese properly now too? Everytime I try to speak in Chinese, the next sentence that comes out of my mouth will be Korean and I have to try very hard to make sure that I speak Chinese and not Korean.
And when I don’t sleep enough, I can’t speak or understand Korean at all.
