Day 4: 25 June 2009, Thursday

Our last day/morning in Jeju. View from our room:

Filming on the beach

Sleepy heads whom I always disturb with my packing at night and in the morning once I’m awake when most are still sleeping.

Korean breakfast at the hotel. I love Korean rice!

Driving to the airport to deposit the luggages before heading to Avis to return the car.

At Avis, waiting for the shuttle bus to take us back to Jeju Airport for our flight to Busan 부산

JejuAir

On the plane, Jeannie gave me plastic surgery with photoshop.

Bye Jeju-do 제주도! It’s been a wonderful stay and I’m (we) are most grateful to my Korean buddy 기홍오빠 for booking the JejuAir tickets, reserving the car for us, lending me his Korean phone, bringing me to get my Korean number and for his advice. Without him, this trip wouldn’t have been possible given my meagre knowledge of the Korean language. Also, many thanks to Yong Kang for driving us around Jeju :)

Taking a big cab to our hotel (Lord Beach Hotel) in Busan 부산 for 53,000원.

Our hotel which is great for its location: between Haeundae Subway Station and Haeundae Beach. But I hate it because of the toilet lighting. It’s so orangey-yellow that I never get my makeup done right and I kept going overboard with my blusher. Also, the toilet’s really dirty. Ok, I’m just exaggerating. It isn’t that dirty, just that the bathtub has cracks, there’s crappy lighting and rusts here and there. I plan to go back to Busan 부산 again next time, and I hope to stay in Novotel! All I need/want is a nice toilet.

Checking out the area around our hotel and looking for a place for lunch

Lunch

Taking the Busan subway and using the one-day unlimited pass for 3,500원. It was indeed interesting to take the subway with the Koreans compared to driving around as we did in Jeju but we kept getting stalkers! There was an old man seated beside me and he was fascinated by us. He said I really really look like a Korean :) During this trip, I realized that once the Koreans hear us rattling off in English, they think that we are from Phillippines, Cambodia, Thailand or something. But because we look Chinese, they ask if we’re from China, or Hong Kong. No one guessed we’re from Singapore straight away.

Congratulations to us, we finally figured out how to type in Korean using our phones! We didn’t know how to type the vowels like ㅏ,ㅕ etc. until Jeannie accidentally pressed some button and got the vowels.

In Seomyeon 서면 for some shopping

When Laneige doesn’t occupy a big space in a departmental store but in Olive Young (a store like Watson’s).

Rain boots I should have bought for Seoul's weather.

Tous Les Jous!

Seomyeon Underground Shopping which was fantastic! I bought the Zipia blouse that I really like for 31,000원 and a pair of cullotes for 31,000원. Got a pair of blue Converse sneakers for 41,000원.

Jagalchi 자갈치 Fish Market

We had sashimi for dinner for just 50,000원 for a medium-sized portion for all of us. Initially, we thought that paying that amount for a plate of sashimi was so expensive, but the waitress promised us that they would provide lots of service. We were like, huh? Service? What service? But later on, we realized that when Koreans say that they will provide service, it just means they’ll give you free stuff. And they definitely did. We didn’t just get a plate of sashimi, we got all the side dishes and soup and tempura and more. The side dishes just kept coming! We also got a bottle of soju 소주 to try for 3,000원 but I didn’t like it so I only had a small cup which I blamed for my red face. Haha!

Super delicious and there’s no fishy smell at all! Really fresh too, a must try, you won’t regret!

At Nampo-dong 남포동 where Jeannie got her Korean phone too

Us with our Korean phones

Great night shopping along the streets where I finally got my fedora for 10,000원.

 Purchases for the day

I shopped at Etude House and got a plastic folder with Lee Minho on it.
