Day 13: 11 July 2009 Saturday

In the morning, I went to Hongdae 홍대 with Alpha and Yi Hui.

Walking out to the main road from the dormitory.

Waiting for bus 03

Hongdae 홍대 with what I think is blood on the ground.

Wearing my new top from Dongdaemun 동대문 and my favourite bottoms from Busan 부산 (matched with my shoes, I look like I have long legs!).

On our way to the Coffee Prince Cafe

Beautiful cafes I must visit soon!

Coffee Prince Cafe

On my way back to the subway station

My favourite shop!

I'll be going to Hongdae 홍대 again next Saturday to shop!

Tempting rain boots!

At around 2pm, I met my Korean friends I made in NUS at Insadong 인사동 subway station: Hyun Ju 현주언니, her sister Hyun Ji 현지 and Yun Mi 윤므언니.

The only Starbucks in Korea that has its outlet name in Korean.

The sights along Insadong street

Lunch at a Korean restaurant where Hyun Ju 현주언니, Yun Mi 윤므언니 and I had Myeongdong soybean noodle soup 명동콩국수 7,000원 while Hyun Ji 현지 had a dumpling soup.

고마워요. Thank you for treating me to lunch!

They bought me a box of traditional court cake Kkultarae 꿀타래 in the peanut flavour for 5,000원.

I was told that if you're able to eat this and leave the 2 hearts intact and unbroken, the ajumma will give you another piece FOC.

Little teddy bear hp charms for 3,000원. I bought one in Far East Plaza a few years back for S$19.90?!

Some squishy toys being sold along the street.

Ssamzigil 쌈지길

This place is really nice but it's best to avoid going there on a Saturday or Sunday because it's way too crowded. I'll go back to the place again with Melissa, Garima and Chun En. And be careful, some shops do not allow you to take photos inside/outside the shop so look out for the "no photos" sign.

Have to go back to get my name stamp! 30,000원.

A toy museum with a 1,000원  admission fee.

Snacks the Korean kids eat in school.

We took neoprints together and it was cool :)

Walking around and looking for a place for dinner.

Please bring your I/C or passport or any form of identification with your age if you want to drink beer 맥주 or soju 소주.  We wanted to dine at a restaurant and have 맥주 but because I didn't bring my I/C (left it in Singapore) or my passport (left it in my dormitory),  I wasn't allowed in there to drink so we left the place and ended up at Mr Pizza. In Korea, the legal age to drink is 20.

Shops found within the subway station as I was transfering to another line. It's a common thing here and people even peddle items on the subway.

At around 8pm or so, I met the rest of the girls: Sarah, Wan Ling, Minqi, Yi Hui and Alpha at Yeoui Naru 여의나루. The Hangang River 한강 at night.

At the 63 Square where My Girl was filmed at. We were there around 9.45pm and the ticket office was closed by 9.30pm so we couldn't go up to the 63rd storey.

The cute caricature portrait they did at Hongdae 홍대 at the Free Market. I'll definitely go for the Free Market next Saturday! I want one too. It costs 8,000원 for a solo portrait and 14,000원 for 2 persons (but there's only 1 drawing done).

It was a rainy night and we were all tired so most of us cabbed back to school.

Hey, it’s behind this cafe ( 3rd picture after the words “Shopping at Hongdae 홍대” as shown here: http://claralala.wordpress.com/2009/07/17/day-18-16-july-2009-thursday/#more-169) so after you pass this cafe, turn left into the lane. And in order to get to this cafe, if I remember correctly, you should turn into the lane with The Coffee Bean, TheFaceShop and Etude House and walk straight down. I hope you’ll be able to find it!
