Got pinched by my umbrella when I closed it :( Stop raining please!
Today’s class was only held from 9-10.30am because we had to attend an Entrance Ceremony 입학식 at 11am which basically comprised of some speeches, the taking of an oath and group pictures.
I love it that my day in school ended so early :)
At 1.20pm, we took a chartered bus to the Immigration Office near Busan Station to settle the procedures for our Alien Registration Cards before my roommate and I left for Seomyun to shop.

Etude House’s having a 30% discount storewide sale in light of its 7th anniversary and I’m pissed off because I spent so much over the last few weeks and didn’t enjoy any form of a discount other than getting freebies. From now onwards, I will only shop from local beauty stores when there is a sale. Even The Face Shop was having a 20-30% discount sale. I can’t shop anyway because I have everything I need/want already.
My short shopping trip to Seomyun wasn’t that futile after all because I bought a pair of printed pants for only 15,000원 and it’s very comfortable! I’m not too sure how I’m going to wear that though because it’s quite a deviation from my usual style.
At 5pm, we met Won Woo 오빠 at Dongnae Station and he brought us for a nice 갈비찜 galbijjim dinner. It’s basically a pork ribs dish like galbitang except that it’s put in spicy sauce in a range of spicyness from 10%-100%. We got the 20% spicyness level and it was already REALLY spicy. We finished off a whole carton of pineapple yoghurt juice that was provided. But it was a really delicious meal because the meat was so tender and the sauce was good. 매콤했어!
Surprisingly, I could understand most of what Won Woo said during the dinner. I guess after a week of class and about 2 weeks of being in Korea, my listening skills has somewhat improved. According to Won Woo, I have definitely improved because the last time we met (last year), whenever he asked me something, I replied with something else instead -.- I didn’t know that my Korean was so bad then. In fact, I thought I was more proficient in the language last year when I was still attending Korean class and communicating with my ex everyday. I didn’t study any Korean at all in my last year in school because I had to focus on my business classes.
During this past one week of classes, there were instances that I felt quite demoralised/depressed because all my classmates speak in Korean so well but I try to console myself that for a non-Korean major, I’m doing fine. Almost all my classmates majored in Korean back in their universities and most of them are going to do their masters on Korean studies too. I need to psycho myself so that I won’t be so pessimistic. The TOPIK paper that we did during our TOPIK class was really a wake-up call for me because if I want to obtain Level 5 by Jan, I really have to start studying hard. I could only answer 2 questions in the vocab & grammar paper -.-
I think the Busan dialect is rubbing off me…I’m beginning to think/speak with a slight accent -.- I can’t help it that I’m easily influenced by my surroundings :(
After dinner, we went to Megamart to shop for groceries before parting ways. Can’t wait to meet Won Woo again! He’s my only Korean friend in Busan.
Back in Sasang, I went to Daiso to shop but it didn’t have the plastic tub I wanted :( After that, I went in search of a Hana Bank ATM to check whether my allowance has been credited to me. I was convinced that I had seen one on the opposite side of the street when we were walking towards E-mart last week. But alas, we couldn’t find it so I decided to go to the Kookmin Bank ATM machine in E-mart instead. And since we walked all the way there, even though the ATM machine couldn’t dispense money in 50,000원 notes, I went ahead with my withdrawal and then immediately regretted my decision when I had to take out the huge stack of money in 10,000원 notes -.-
If not for the stupid decision to go looking for the ATM machine, we could have caught the 9pm shuttle bus back to school. Instead, we had to wait for the 9.30pm bus that did come, but it passed us by without stopping for some unknown reason -.- Since we had already incurred the sunk cost of waiting, we decided to wait till 10pm for the last bus which NEVER came. So we gave up and walked back to the taxi area at the subway station which we should have done so at 9pm. Along the way, I walked past Kookmin Bank and decided to deposit my money and withdraw them again in 50,000원 notes which were available at the ATM machine there. So in total, I paid 1,000원 for withdrawing my money twice -.- I hate it that I’m charged for withdrawing money here. I think I should ask Mr Yun if I can change my crediting bank account to Kookmin Bank instead since there are more ATM machines around than Hana Bank’s.

Yay, I got a free bowl and no longer have to eat cereal from my cup!
The parcel that I sent to myself finally arrived yesterday! So I spent the rest of the afternoon and evening unpacking the box and packing my stuff. I can finally dress up now that the rest of my summer clothes, accessories, makeup and skincare products are here!

I’m so glad that I shipped my Vanity Trove boxes over. Used them to store my makeup and jewellery!
