And so, this is the end for my KOREAN LANGUAGE 한국어 IMMERSION 2009 trip.
Thank you to my dear readers for having followed through my 39 entries. I know I've been slow on updating this blog towards the end of the trip because there was just no time for everything I wanted to do in Korea. I didn't want to rush through my blogging and do substandard entries just for the sake of updating every day which I did so initially. Hence, my entries were quite backdated towards the end but nevertheless, I hope you've seen how beautiful Korea is. The country means so much to me and I have never ever made it an effort to blog everyday before. But just for this trip, I did so, so that I could remember as much as possible about my glorious time there.
My next trip to Korea will be next year, on a students exchange program to either Yonsei University or Korea University, about one year from now. So till then, take care and I'll see you again next year :)

Hello Amanda, you're welcome :) I hope you'll be able to visit Korea soon and if you have any questions about travelling in Korea, feel free to ask me and I'll try my best to answer your questions! Learning a new language is challenging; but it's fun learning the Korean language and I think you'll enjoy learning it! It'll be a much longer travel diary next year as I'll be there for at least 4 months.
Hello there!
Happen to pass by your blog.
Just wana know which school are you currently studying at now?
I want to go to Korea for an immersion trip too!
Thanks! :)
Hello there,
I'm currently studying in NUS.
To be able to go for the immersion in Korea, you will need to take the Korean language module (LAK2201 Korean 2) at the Centre of Language Studies of FASS. The prerequisite for taking LAK2201 is a pass in LAK1201 Korean 1 or a placement test.
Also, if you'll be a freshman next year, you can apply for the Korean Language Preparation Programme (KLPP) which basically prepares you for an exchange in South Korea by giving you priority placing for Korean language classes which are really popular in NUS. In exchange, you are obligated to go for your student exchange programme in South Korea. I'm currently in the KLPP.

Hello, i happen to come across your website. Interested to learn korea but don't know which is good.
Can you tell me more like how to start and cost fees?
also interested in Korea immersion.
thanks
JOanne
Hello Joanne, I'm currently learning the Korean language in NUS as a language module. So cost fees wise, I'm paying the university course fee for a business admin. degree. NUS Extension offers Korean courses as well, so perhaps, you can check that out if you're not studying in NUS!
Hey Clara. It's me again... I read in your blog that you'd wanna come back to Ibis Myeongdong again. Would you recommend that Myeongdong is the best place to stay around in Seoul? Because I'd think it's close to where the shopping streets are and the main tourist attractions as well.
I thought at first Gangnam area would be cool but thought that it's a little far from everywhere.
Yes, based on my experience. In fact, I plan to extend my stay this year and stay at Myeongdong for a week.
Gangnam is indeed far from everywhere if you're planning to spend most of your time around the Central area such as Anguk, Dongdaemun, Sinchon and Hongdae.
I love Ibis because it's right in the shopping streets.
Hey I'll be leaving for Seoul soon, I was wondering the place your friend did her hair at, Hair Club, where is it? Do they understand english? And approximately how much will it be to dye my hair there?
Heheh, sorry for asking so many qns ^_^
It's in the shopping area near Ewha Women's University, just behind Hello A PM shopping mall (not sure if I got the shopping mall name right!) They don't know much English :( I gave them the instructions in Korean! Also, I'm not too sure how long it'll take for a hair dye, sorry for not being able to answer that!
Hi, i'm interested in going for a language immersion programme at Yonsei/SNU next summer. Can i ask, approximately what was your total expenditure? Fees, accomodation, air ticket etc.
I enjoyed reading your blog and I hope to see more exciting updates when you go for your exchange! (: Have fun!
Hello Stefanie!
Fees $1400 inclusive of accommodation and cooking classes. Air ticket by SQ $1200 ($1290 for my coming trip). As for food, about $700+ for 6 weeks.
Thank you :)
Hi you went for the yonsei summer programme right? Is that one $1400 only? The website states that it's US$1400. Did you stay in the school's dorm?
Thanks for your replies!! :)
Hello Stefanie,
I went for the NUS-Yonsei language immersion programme and I paid S$1400. May I know which website stated US$1400? Perhaps that is for the summer school, not the Korean language immersion programme?
Oh i got the information from the yonsei website?
http://www.yskli.com/prog_summer.htm
Is this the one you went for?
No, mine's a special program customised for NUS students so it's the NUS-Yonsei language programme and not under the normal summer school.
Oh okay, no wonder! Thanks. :D
