This morning, the 3 of us (Jenna, Valentina and I) took the 9.28am KTX train from Gupo Station 구포역 to Daejeon Station 대전역. The 2-hr journey there cost 27,900원.

From Daejeon Station, we walked to Jungangno 중앙로, which is one subway station away, but within walkable distance. The famous Sung Sim Dang bakery is near Exit D-1 of Jungangno Station/Underground shopping centre. There’s a Sung Sim Dang outlet at Daejeon Station too but there’s almost always a long queue there.
At the bakery, I bought 2 macaroons (mango and pistachio) for 2,000원 each, a milk pudding for 2,500원 and 4 little boxes of biscuits for 5,500원 each. We also bought the famous red bean bread for Jenna’s parents. There wasn’t much of a queue in the bakery when we were there, probably because of the rainy weather.
From Jungangno, we took a cab to the bus terminal for 6,000원. There’s only one subway line in Daejeon and it doesn’t go to the bus terminal. And from the bus terminal, we took a bus for 8,900원 to Cheongyang 청양, where Jenna’s parents live. Cheongyang is famous for 고추장 gochujang. The journey there took about 2 hours and Jenna’s dad picked us up from the bus terminal because the only way to get to their place is by private transport as no buses go to the farm areas.

| Delicious but still can’t be compared to Laduree or Pierre Hermes’ macaroons |
Upon arrival at Jenna’s place, her mum served us lunch and the food was soooooo good!
We spent the rest of the afternoon watching IU’s drama and eating before retiring to a small room outside the main house where we spent the night.

For dinner, we had shabu shabu- Jenna’s favourite! The soup base tasted really good because her mum added clams.
After dinner, we went back to our room to chill.
Thanks to Jenna, I got to spend a night in Cheongyang (in the countryside 시골) and experience the hospitality of her parents and her neighbours, one of whom dropped by to help prepare dinner while another brought us Chinese food.
