Well, I moved up to Seoul on Thursday.
And I miss Silla University’s Global Town A LOT.
ROOM
Other than the fact that I am in a single room now with a more well-designed desk and that I’m just 1 minute away from the main road (via the East gate), I’m paying about 625,000KRW/month, which is more than 3 times the rent of my Silla room, for- a puny wardrobe half the size of my previous one, a puny shoe cabinet half the size of my previous one, a door without a door stopper so I struggle every time I come back with many things, and the most irritating of all- electricity that only exists when my room card is slotted in (tried slotting other cards in to keep the electricity on but it doesn’t work). So basically, every time I leave my room and come back, I am in complete darkness until I manage to slot my card in (which isn’t easy when I hold many things) and I have to reset my digital clock EVERY TIME. And I don’t get why they give us a mini fridge too since we can only use it when we are in the room. Oh yes, and my room is right at the end of the hallway which is sooooo far from the lift lobby (ok, maybe it’s better since the view for the single rooms nearer the lift lobby is the KLI and I don’t people to see me in my room). And the view from my assigned room is so bleh. I’m comparing this place with my room for the past 1 year.
Irritating fact: I have soooo many things that I can’t even think of moving to another place. I wonder if I can stay here for the whole 1.5 years. What if I am assigned a different room for every semester??????? I think if that happens and the office really won’t let me keep my room, I’ll move off campus.
FRIENDS
I am the only KGSPer here I think. And this place is almost full of foreigners. From being one of the few foreigners in Global Town, I am now one of the many foreigners here. Almost everyone I have seen here for the past few days are foreigners. So much so that I don’t feel like I’m in Korea at all. Most of all, almost all the foreigners in Global Town were from my program and I had so many friends there. I’m all alone now.
I am missing Busan sooooooo much. And Global Town too.
When I was at the Express Bus Terminal yesterday, just 2 gates away was the gate for the bus to West Busan i.e. Sasang where I can just take Silla’s shuttle bus back to Global Town.
I woke up at 11am+ today and unpacked and packed all the way till the late afternoon before I explored the area around my dorm and walked to Edae to get more stuff from Daiso. Edae’s dorm looks really pretty.
Orientation starts tomorrow!

Hi
Glad you are back blogging! Why not move off campus when you settle down. Take some time to find an estate agent to help you look out for one that is near your campus. Find a studio apartment with a mini kitchen, bathroom. A short bus ride or MRT ride to campus is still doable.
hi clara, after walking out of sk global house and turning left at abiko curry, walk straight further down and there is c&u and bonjuk and further down the area has some housing options. you might want to explore there. good luck :)
By order of my parents, I am to stay on-campus :( But I’m slowly getting used to SK! And I found the plug that doesn’t cut off my electricity supply when I remove my room key :) And right now, SK has its perks since I’m about 2 mins away from my biz sch building haha, though that means I’m almost always late too because I think I can fly to school.
Thanks for the advice though! It’s tempting… I think I may check out the other options just to see how they are :) I heard that the rooms above Abiko Curry are really really nice but pricey in terms of the deposit amount.
